A FEW MO' THINGS, 3/6/12 EDITION
This comes out today.  Buy it, download it, listen to it, and start enjoying the benefits of a better life.

College basketball became a little less fun today, the sport and a school is without one of its great ambassadors.  Charlie Coles is retiring.  Someone with good writing chops would be smart to ghost write Charlie Coles' book.  It could be part autobiographical, part anecdotal, and part coaching manual. The stories and one-liners would be worth the price alone Regardless, the Charlie Coles story one of sports great unwritten books.

In a sport plagued by greasy coaches and guided by influences that either cloud or obscure the overall missions of both colleges and their basketball programs, Miami always seemed to have a head basketball coach who knew both his and sport's proper place, one who had the universal respect of nearly everyone in the game, which is no small feat given college basketball's intense personalities and rivalries.

He is a great interview, a master storyteller, quick with a one-liner, and a fine coach.  College basketball won't be the same without him.

-Reds v. Indians was on the tube yesterday.  The good guys wore their hittin' shoes, and won 12-5  Their might have been more runs scored than people in the stands. I know we're year three into this and I know they're not moving back to Florida anytime soon, but if the Bengals took training camp and moved it even further away, we'd burn down Mike Brown's house.  The Reds take spring training, which used to be an annual ritual for many, and move it thousands of miles west, and we give them a pass.

Don't get it.

What good is spring training if a team's fans can't enjoy it?

-This morning, CBSSports.com has listed six different mock drafts.  Note to self, I need to get a job at CBS Sports.  The crappy economy doesn't seem to be impacting the ol' tympani network.

-Last night I had six conference tournament finals and semi finals, each decided by four points or less, one decided on OT, another decided in double OT. Again, please, tell me what's wrong with conference tourney week?

-There have been 329 columns written about the Saints and their bounty program.  As expected, Peter King's column on it is the best.

-This is a pretty good look at why bounty programs are effective

-Sorta short and sweet this morning, but I'll make it up to you later.  Catch the radio show at 3:04 today on ESPN1530.  We talk college hoops with Mike DeCoursey at 4:04 and we're working one one or two other guests as well.  In honor of Super Tuesday, which has nothing to do with politics, here's The Boss....
