A FEW MO' THINGS, 11/8/12
-Johnny Cueto isn't a finalist for the Cy Young Award. It would be cool if he was. I wish I could pretend that I was really, really pissed that he isn't. I can't. Dude picked a bad year to have an incredible season.
-AJ Green had this to say about the Giants' defense...
"I feel like they've got a lot of holes in their defense."
It's a true statement. New York hasn't been great defensively, especially in the secondary. And I'm sure theNew York media will make a big deal out of this, but it's about time a Bengal said or did something that put the onus on himself. Maybe the team will respond.
Probably not, but I like it.
-Speaking of AJ, he's listed way too low here.
-Say what you want about John Calipari. Say what you want about the UK basketball program. Say what you want about any possible alterior motives. But a coach using his and his program's popularity to help out Hurricane Sandy victims is extradinarily admirable.
-Speaking of UK, they need a football coach. Bobby Petrino is a football coach, albeit one who's out of work right now. When he is employed, he wins a lot of games. He's also a scumbag, a proven philanderer who's character or lack thereof was revealed when as he was being whacked by Arkansas, absolutely none of his former players and colleagues came to his defense.
But remember, he wins a lot of games.
He also designs innovative offenses.
And he's won in the SEC.
Know what UK needs? Someone who wins football games while designing the type of offense that attracts the public in the SEC. And they need someone who can't afford to be picky when choosing a new job.
UK needs Bobby Petrino. They'd be nuts not to at least consider hiring him, especially if he is indeed interested.
-There are times I wish I didn't root for the New York Knicks, like when I read stories like this.
-And this story is why I will never, ever, ever, ever root for a team coached by Geno Auriemma. Even if it's in the Olympics.
-This is a great read. Do you tire of the conservatism of NFL coaches? Then you'll want Oregon's Chip Kelly to make the jump to the pros. Or you at least want his philiosophies to.
-This blog was short and sweet today, primarily because I spent a chunk of my morning discussing fashion with my producer. More later, including today's radio show on ESPN1530. This is a day or so late, but it still applies....
