UC basketball
UC is a one point favorite at UConn tonight, with a total of 127.
UC is 19-0 when scoring at least 61 points this season.
Since start of 2010-2011:
64-8 when scoring at least 60 points (89%)
7-21 when scoring fewer than 60 points (25%)
Water from a boat:
UC has failed to top .396 FG shooting in 8 straight games.
.345-.327-.375-.367-.375-.308-.396-.315
UC is 4-4 in the above stretch of games.
After starting the season 12-0, UC is 7-7 in the last 14 games.
UC has won 13 of last 17 away from 5th/3rd Arena.
Big East rankings: 15 teams
UC begins the night 10th in the Big East standings.
Offense
Points: 61.8 (12th)
FG: .378 (14th)
3PT: .293 (12th)
FT: .675 (11th)
Defense
Points: 59.6 (T-3rd)
FG: .418 (9th)
3PT: .288 (3rd)
I was asked yesterday, who UC misses the most from a year ago: Dion Dixon or Yancy Gates?
Last season:
Dixon: 13.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.6 steals, .371 FG, .261 3PT, .699 FT.
Gates: 12.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, 0.9 blocks, 0.7 assists, .474 FG, .604 FT
Answer: Gates
UC misses the scoring abilities of Gates on the front-line. Dixon got to the line (team high 166 FTA), but Gates could score around the basket. Think his 12 points wouldn't help a team that is getting little/nothing from its front-line?
Production in Big East play:
Mbodj: 5.2 point, 22.4 minutes
Jackson: 3.6 points, 18.1 minutes
Nyarsuk: 1.5 points, 9.2 minutes
Gaines: 0.7 points, 6.8 minutes

Computer help
I've decided to get a new computer for my office at home. I have a Dell Windows XP that is probably 7-8 years old. I've always owned a Dell. I'm considering the iMac from Apple. I'm thinking the iMac is a logical next step, since we have two iPads and Peyton has an iPod touch.
Issues/concerns: I'm the guy that doesn't know what he doesn't know when it comes to computers. I use my current computer to surf the web, email, blog and to post Flip video. My kids, Peyton (10) and Casey (12) use it for writing papers and Power Point.
I'm thinking the iMac would broaden my families horizons and show us things we never thought about doing. And it would be good for the kids as they get older.
Is there enough of that to justify jumping to the iMac?
How tough is the transition to iMac? Is it like learning a whole new language? My immediate concern would be to simply get on-line, read email and blog, right away.
Keyboard: If I get the iMac, do I want the wireless keyboard or the Numeric Keypad?
Any help would be appreciated.

Xavier
From XUStatman, David Stubenrauch
With Xavier's win last night, they continue a streak of what is now 31
consecutive seasons finishing at .500 or better in league play. It is,
and has been for some time, the longest such streak in the nation. X
has not finished under .500 in league play since the 1981-82 season.

1986 - Rollie Fingers passes up an opportunity to return to the majors. Fingers is invited to spring training by the Cincinnati Reds, who ask him to shave off his trademark handlebar mustache to comply with team rules. Fingers refuses to do so and decides to retire.
1989 - Cincinnati Reds manager Pete Rose meets with Commissioner Peter Ueberroth and Commissioner-elect Bart Giamatti to discuss his gambling habits.
2000 - The Cincinnati Reds announce the team has dropped its ban on earrings but denies that the acquisition of Ken Griffey, Jr. is the reason. Players have worn them in the clubhouse, but weren't allowed on the field with them.

Dot....dot.....dot...for those with short attention spans
How much would Dez Wells and his 12 PTS, 5 RB and 3 AST per game help XU?..... Who does UC miss more: Yancy Gates or Dion Dixon? .....Pacers keep rolling: West 18/9, Stephenson 14, Pacers just half game back 2nd in East....Decent new show: Monday Mornings on TNT...... I subscribe to the Enquirer. Wonder how many people signed up after their on-line page view limit was up?.... Bonus of XU last night?: Got to have dinner with my family. Brought home PF Chang!......Aaron Boone joined me on Sports Talk last night. He told me he's against the Chapman move, but the Reds are his early pick for World Series. Aaron has made a really smooth transition to broadcasting......We got the Direct TV Genie and love it. No more battles over conflicts with my games and Kelly's shows.......I'll admit it, we watch Nashville. Big Connie Britton fan......The Showtime documentary: 'History of the Eagles' is fantastic. A great look at the rise and then breakup and everything in between.......No idea if he'd take it, but Jay Bilas should be the head of the NCAA........Twitter tells me today is my 4th anniversary of joining Twitter: I have sent 52, 992 Tweets, follow 400 people and have 18, 786 followers. Did I get hacked by clicking on that tweet?........I can't imagine being a sports fan and not being on Twitter.........People complain about college basketball being too physical, but then complain when refs blow the whistle early and often (OSU-Minnesota last night). Can't have it both ways. I want refs to establish how it is going to be early in a game, up to players to adjust......love MLB Network's Hot Stove, weekdays 9am, I ride my bike and work on iPad while watching.........Yep, that's my voice on the Tri-State Chevy Dealers TV commercials. Casey and Peyton freaked when they heard it while watching shows. I appreciate Chevy's investment in me, the show and the station.....I wish the Reds were back in Florida for spring training. Arizona seems so far away, like the team is disconnected from Cincinnati and the fans.......I'm leaning more and more towards getting an iMac.....Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy is in his 7th season, and trying to get the Rebels to the NCAA tournament for the first time. After a 17-2 start they have lost 5 of 7.........Bob Huggins and WVU are 13-13/6-7.......60% of voters in my blog poll say Michael Johnson is more important than Andre Smith? Seriously?.......Going to the eye doctor this morning. I don't like that puff of air or rapid fire questions about which view is more clear. Makes me nervous.....Excited to again add afternoons (3-6pm ESPN 1530) to my schedule starting April 3.

No green light for Votto?
Joey Votto has not yet been cleared for the Team Canada WBC roster, a source said tonight. Jon Morosi (@jonmorosi), Fox Baseball
Cueto will not pitch in WBC
Reds exercised right to disallow Cueto's participation in WBC as he finished on DL. Despite his desire to play, he respects their decision.

Enquirer: Rose reality show ended last Sunday?
Well done

Reds fans really stepped up yesterday. Joey Votto soundly defeated Derek Jeter in an Elite 8 match-up of MLB Network 'Face of MLB'. The vote closed at 6:30AM today. Votto advances to face Andrew McCutchen (Pirates) in the Final Four. To vote Votto, once that round begins, simply include #JoeyVotto in your tweets. Xavier: How about Travis Taylor last night? 17 boards in Xavier's road win. The Musketeers got after it on defense (24%). Dee was playin' 'D'. I'm not sure people fully appreciate what Semaj Christon is giving that team, as a FR. The gauntlet begins for XU. 5 games, 4 at home: VCU, Memphis, UMass, St Louis and at Butler. Wow:
VCU 21-6/9-3
Memphis 23-3/12-0
UMass 16-9/6-6
St Louis 20-5/9-2
@Butler 22-5/9-3
Combined: 102-28 (.785)
A-10 record: 33-14 (.702)
Atlantic 10 standings
9-2 St Louis
9-3 Butler, VCU
8-3 La Salle
8-4 Xavier
6-5 Charlotte, Temple, George Washington
Kentucky: Nice bounce for the Wildcats. UK showed some fight, pride and composure in a Vandy. Quality guard play to go with a big effort from Willie Cauley-Stein. I root for a rally to the tournament for Cal's team.
