No way!
Watch Phil Mickelson lip out a 25-ft putt that would have made him just 6th golfer in PGA Tour history to shoot a 59 in a recognized PGA Tour event. Holy!

Reds
Rolen question unanswered
John Fay, Enquirer
I’m hearing now that Rolen wants to play.
That tells me the issue may be money. The Reds are at or above their budget for payroll. The Reds obviously can’t pay Rolen what he made last year ($6.5 million). How much can they pay? I have no idea. But given the way they’ve deferred money, the budget is tight.
It's risky for Reds to switch things up
Jerry Crasnick, ESPN
The Cincinnati Reds made one of the most provocative moves of the Major League Baseball offseason without spending a dime or cracking the cover of a Scott Boras promotional binder. After an extensive internal debate in October, they decreed that Aroldis Chapman will move from the back end of the bullpen to the starting rotation, where they hope he will blossom into must-see viewing in installments of six innings or more.
Over/under: Aroldis Chapman's IP/ERA
ESPN
Will the move work? As a reliever, Chapman could just rear back and fire his 100-mph heater past helpless hitters. He threw his fastball 88 percent of the time last year, mixing in a slider. Some will say he'll need to add a third pitcher, but that's not necessarily true if he can command his fastball. The obvious comparison is Randy Johnson, who made a pretty good living as a fastball/slider guy.

Great day
Yesterday I had lunch with Peyton and her 5th grade class. I took her Subway.
Last night I took Casey to work and then we watched UC-Rutgers at 5th/3rd.

Double Standard
I was watching MLB Network Hot Stove yesterday and though baseball writer Ken Rosenthal made an interesting comment. He said he's disappointed by the lack of media scrutiny and coverage of drug/PED violations when it comes to NFL players compared to MLB players. He went on to discuss the double standard he sees. Do you agree? If so, why? I'll spend some time on this Thursday night.
From Joe Strauss, St Louis Post Dispatch (@JoeStrauss)
Amazing how many who accuse those covering MLB of complicity in steroid era fail to question NFL. Nothing to see here!

Bearcats can ride Jackson's momentum
Paul Dehner Jr, GoBearcats.com
For a moment, Justin Jackson disappeared. Not theoretically, as in from the offensive rhythm or from the rotation. Rather, from view. Of most everyone.
In a second attempt to improbably save a ball off a rebound, he ended up somewhere between the visitor's locker room in the basement and Nippert Stadium.
As his teammates recovered to retain a valuable possession late in the 64-56 victory against Rutgers on Wednesday night Jackson finally emerged, trotting out from deep behind the stands with a smile stretching ear to ear.
Not making this up
I got this tweet when the UC game ended last night:
"where do you think the cats would be if Andy Kennedy got the job? I like Mick but i thought Andy should have got the job.."
The UC fans that cling to the past sure are missing a fun time in UC basketball's present.

Xavier dominates glass, hangs on late
FS Ohio
While Dayton's starting lineup was introduced Wednesday night, Xavier students held up full-color pictures of all six of those United States Presidents. At tip-off, they chanted "Jimmy Carter."
Thanks to a huge rebounding edge and a little luck late, those Presidents will be back next year. By the wild end of what became a 66-61 Xavier victory, those students were off to party like it was 18 years before 1999.

Ohio's DJ Cooper on verge of unique NCAA record
CBS Sports
With at least 12 games left in his college career (barring injury), Cooper is on pace to become the only player in the history of Division I college basketball to collect 2,000 points, 900 assists, 500 rebounds and 300 steals. On the surface, it seems to be a record that should've been reached at some point in the past 100 years. But no. Stop and think about those numbers, then realize Cooper is listed -- listed -- at 6 feet tall.
It's stupendous.

Hamilton says confidence the key to swiping bases
Lexington Herald Leader
"My main goal is to get on base and, if I can get on base, I can steal bases. So last year was a big part of me stealing and switch-hitting. I feel like I came a long way switch-hitting."
Hamilton, 22, was selected by the Reds in the second round of the 2009 draft, 57th overall. Out of Taylorsville (Miss.) High School, he chose the Reds over playing wide receiver for Mississippi State University.

Super Bowl
Why do we still have a Media Day?
Awful Announcing
If there's anything left in sports that surpasses the absurdity of the Pro Bowl... it's Super Bowl Media Day. The Tuesday before the big game has become a circus Barnum and Bailey would be proud to call their own. Every year, players and coaches from both conference champions are paraded in front of podiums and forced to answer the dumbest and most insignificant questions possible.

Hue Jackson apologizes for introducing Rey Lawis to S.W.A.T
Baltimore Sun
"Ray is one of the greatest football players to ever play the game," Jackson said. "This kind of thing should never happen to him. He doesn't deserve it. It's not fair. This is not about talking about a relationship that he met a guy a few years back. It should be about him trying to win the most important game of all this season. Ray means the world to me. Ray has spoken his peace and I stand behind him 100 percent."
Jackson no longer endorses Ross' supplement products, at the request of the NFL.
