Moeller's Barlow delivers as Butler stuns top ranked IU

That Butler mentality – the confidence, the fearlessness, the competitiveness – that flows from Stevens is part of what attracted Barlow to the school. He wants to be a coach, and he wanted to learn the Butler Way from Stevens. He just had to convince the coach to take him. Barlow was more highly acclaimed as a shortstop than a basketball prospect, barely playing any AAU hoops during high school. The only schools that were interested in him as a basketball player were Division II Bellarmine University and Northern Kentucky University. So he took his chances as a walk-on.
Story on Barlow from last week: “Barlow was outstanding in both settling us down and defending. You can't get your motivation from scoring points. You get your motivation from playing good basketball.”

Bearcats beat Marshall to move to 10-0
In response to reports of membership changes in the BIG EAST Conference, University of Cincinnati director of athletics Whit Babcock has issued the following comments:
“Conference realignment is a story that is still being told,” said Babcock. “Like our fans, students, donors and alumni, I will be glad when all of this is over. I cannot tell you how, when or where it will end, but I can tell you that UC is positively committed to competing at the highest level. I do not know the time frame for the endgame of all of this. We will not have the answers overnight.
“But I do know this: now is not the time to stop moving forward or to simply give up. Last week we hired an outstanding football coach. Our men’s basketball team is undefeated and highly ranked. We have had competitive success in a number of our other sports and the academic success of our University and our student-athletes has never been stronger.
“We’ve had other challenges in the past and have come out of those stronger than before. This situation will be no different. I should also add that President Ono and the University Trustees have been great partners every step of the way. We will work diligently to position UC in the most favorable light moving forward. We will continue to compete and win. We will continue to deliver on the student-athlete experience. The road may be bumpy along the way but we will survive and thrive. Now is not the time to panic, now is the time to lead.”

Bengals
* Signed FB John Conner, a third-year player from Kentucky. Conner (5-11, 245) is a Greater Cincinnati native, a product of Lakota West High School. He was a fifth-round draft choice of the New York Jets in 2010 and played in 35 Jets games with 10 starts before being waived this past Oct. 18. He was on the Jets roster for this season’s first six games, with three games played including two starts. He has career totals of 21 rushes for 88 yards (4.2) with two touchdowns, and four receptions for 18 yards (4.5). He played in every Jets game in 2010 and ’11.
* Placed fourth-year FB Chris Pressley on the Reserve/Injured list. Pressley suffered a knee injury in Thursday’s game at Philadelphia. He played in all of this season’s 14 games, with seven starts. His only offensive touch was a one-yard TD reception.

Mayes had a wrestler who is sharp and engaging, but he has the physical ability of a 6-month-old. That hasn’t stopped Jared from pursuing his athletic dreams.
He dressed out for the football team and scored a touchdown with the help of teammates and the opposing team. Jared then went out for wrestling. Practicing is fun, but he wanted to get in an actual match.
“Who has the kindest heart on your team?” Mayes asked Stevens.
