three year contract

The Bengals got their veteran running back, agreeing to a three-year deal with BenJarvus Green-Ellis according to various reports. Green-Ellis, who spent his first four seasons with the Patriots, visited Cincinnati on Sunday and Monday.

Last season Green-Ellis averaged only 3.7 yards per carry and his longest run was 18 yards . Two years ago though he did have 28 carries of 10 yards or more and three rushes of over 20 yards.

Over the past two seasons, Green-Ellis has 24 rushing touchdowns. He also doesn’t have a fumble in 510 career carries. With the Bengals going with a backfield by committee approach, he would be paired up with Bernard Scott and Brian Leonard. It is also possible that they could still look for a back in the middle rounds of next month’s draft.

Green-Ellis would replace Cedric Benson, who had three straight 1,000-yard seasons. On Monday and Tuesday Michael Bush visited the Bengals but it looks like he will be going somewhere else.
